How much Salad should I allow to serve per person?

Whether you are catering an event such as an engagement or wedding or just having a party or BBQ, the hosts biggest concern is always how much should I allow per person.

Too much and it's a waste but worst of all too little and it's a disaster of epic proportions!

Our guide will help you get it right......

If you are planning a party or BBQ you won’t be just serving salads right!

Our suggestions are based on the assumption that your guests will be offered other “centre of plate” options such as some beef, chicken, lamb, quiche, pie etc.

Remember that the more of these options offered to your guests then the less salad they will likely put on their plate as a whole.

Here is our quantity guide......

• WET SALADS

  Such as Potato Salad, Coleslaw, Pasta Salads etc

  Allow 85 - 100 grams per person

Therefore you will get approximately 30 serves out of something like our Australian Potato Salad, Creamy Noodle Pasta Salad or our delicious crisp Coleslaw Blend all of which are real Aussie BBQ favourites.

• DRY OR LEAFY GREEN SALADS

  Such as a Fresh Garden Salad, Greek Salad or Caesar Salad

  Allow 70 - 80 grams per person

Therefore you will get approximately 14 serves from something like our 1kg Garden Salad or 20 serves from our 1.5kg Caesar Salad

Never fear if you end up with extra because all of our salads are made absolutely fresh to order so you should be able to keep it in the refrigerator for between 5 - 10 days (depending on the type of salad).

The measurements here won’t be so exact and every crowd is different so you will probably end up with a little extra however, all of the salads supplied by Padstow Food Service are made absolutely fresh to order so you can keep any left overs in the refrigerator for between 5 - 10 days depending on the type of salad.
